Basic Research

Tissue specific Stem Cells

Mesenchymal stem cells from different Tissue like Bone marrow, Adipose tissue, Umbilical cord, Wharton’s Jelly, Dental Pulp are expanded and are evaluated & compared for their regenerative & immunomodulatory properties. Other tissues which are being explored as a source of stem cells are- Skin, hair follicle.

Stem Cell Differentiation

With a view to translate the regenerative potential of Stem Cells to the patients; our lab explore various strategies to optimally differentiate cells into multiple lineages. Like- corneal epithelial, melanocytes, keratinocytes, cardiomyocytes, neurons, hepatocytes, chondrocyte, osteocytes, adipocytes etc.)

Stem cell Derived Exosomes

We isolate exosomes from human Mesenchymal stem cells with primary focus on understanding their biogenesis, packaging and regenerative potential in liver fibrosis, wound healing, drug delivery, etc.

Embryonic and Induced pluripotent stem cells

We derive human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) cell lines from patience suffereing from genetic diseases like MLC, DMD, etc. to understand the disease at the molecular level, drug screening and for gene correction.

Cancer Stem Cell and Organoid

Stem cells are being used to create mini organs in the form of organoids to create in vitro 3D models mimicking the organ with a particular disease and study various medical aspects like disease prophylaxis, interaction with specific drug or their developmental profiles.
